Happy New Year to you , fellow Financial Freedom Fighters!
Welcome to the excitement of a brand new year and whatever gifts they may hold for you. I have a feeling that 2012 will be a year of breakthroughs and big steps for us. Who knows: that exciting unexpected breakthrough might be right upon us!
After much deliberation I have set myself the following path:
…drumroll please…
2012: The Year of “Building for the Future!”
* Complete the academic programs I started
(Reward: Huuuuge Party )
* Make four figures per month in Internet income by December
(Reward: New laptop )
* Continue to “Learn my trade” as a financial analyst and financial planner
(Reward: Cold, hard cash!)
* 6-figure Net worth
(Reward: What can I say? Chestful of Pride!
)
* Find a Ms. Mzansi
(Reward: um…
)
* Get to Intermediate level in Mandarin Chinese
(Reward: Ticket to China, baby!)
* Join a hockey club and play
(Reward: No more belly <hopefully>)
Yep, 2012 will be more of a “maintenance” year than an exciting one, for me. Look at those Rewards, though. Hit my goals and it might end up being the “Best Year Ever”!
I will not bore you with the nitty gritty of how I plan to achieve these. Trust me, there is a detailed spreadsheet with actions/habits to cultivate and specific milestones to reach back here. My process is very similar to Chris Guillebeau’s. I am going to keep my specific, numeric amounts to myself until the end of the year, when I reveal how I’ve done.
In a change from last year, I have also created a “Vision Board” – a medium-sized bulletin board that I have covered with pictures of my goals, as if they have been reached. One example would be, for instance, that I have photoshopped one of my brokerage account statements to show a 6-figure balance and put it on my Vision Board.
Here’s to 2012: Building for the Future!

Looks like a great set of goals Kevin and an even better set of rewards. If you end up rewarding yourself that much you are gonna have one killer year! Go get em in 2012!
Thanks, mate! 2012 does not know what is going to be hitting it!
Very impressive list of goals you have here. I hope you will have the time and resources to meet them. I’m anxious to see what this year has booked for me too.
Yep, I’m excited about what 2012 will hold. I wish you all the success in reaching your goals, as well…
